There is no better way to explore Ladakh than by mountain bike. Travelling by bike provides a unique opportunity for those who dream of the challenge of a prolonged journey through the snow-capped Himalayas with its ancient Buddhist monasteries and remote villages perched high upon the mountain sides.

Our journey begins in Leh, where we spend 3 days acclimatizing at 3500m. During our stay here we explore the villages around Leh and visit some of the most famous Buddhist monasteries of the Leh region on easy day rides.

Upon leaving Leh, our first day of the adventure starts with us biking along the Upper Indus Valley through ancient monasteries and rustic villages surrounded by green barley fields. We pedal upwards to reach the high plateau of Changthang, known as The Land of Nomads and highlighted by its picturesque lakes, Tsomoriri and Tsokar.

Leaving Changthang we cross Taglang La, at 5280m is the second highest road pass in world. Catching our breath here we then descend down to the Indus Valley and summit another high pass, Wari La (5150m) and enter the Nubra Valley.
This valley was a gateway gateway to the ancient silk route by which camel traders brought their wares from Central Asia through the Himalayas into northern India. Leaving the Nubra Valley we prepare ourselves for an epic ascent to the 5380m high Khardung La, the highest road pass in the world! This highlight is followed by a speedy and breathtaking descent back to Leh to complete our grand Trans Himalayan two-wheel adventure.
